China Unicom to release 3G numbers in batches in 4Q |

BEIJING, Jul 01, 2009 (Xinhua via COMTEX) Considering the investment in 3G network construction caused obvious influence in driving the development of upstream industries, China Unicom (0762.HK; CHU.NYSE) is expected to release 3G cellphone numbers in batches in the fourth quarter, said Chang Xiaobing, president of the telecom operator.
Chang revealed that with the carrier's reshuffle and 3G network construction, the capital expenditure has kept on increasing since the second half of 2008, and the planned investment of 110 billion yuan for this year have all been allocated.
Additionally, under the circumstance that global market is still gloomy, China's three telecom operators' large investment in network upgrade and 3G network construction has greatly supported and pushed the upstream industries, such as fiber, cable and supporting system.
